Week of 10/18/2021 Mid term week. I decided not to try for three shots. I got three wrong but I think one of them should be correct. Unfortunately I can't look at it again to see which ones I got wrong. Stupid. If I had a paper test I could be studying my incorrect responses. That's how one learns. Not by being given 3 tries. I find that almost insulting...LOL. I can't believe how easy these kids have it. But I am 100% certain I answered the question about what was copyrightable correctly. This is one of the problems with this online format. It's a PIB to fix a problem.  Okay, enough grumping about cheesy tests. (And I refuse to do it more than once.) Working on the next weeks assignment. I am going to have to really work to get familiar with Illustrator. I have some background on both Lightroom and Photoshop, but not Illustrator. Yikes Week of 10/25/2021 Crazy week. I screwed up the assignments. Not looking in the right place. From here on I will look in all the possib
Week of October 11, 2021 This is a very dense week!!! Much to do and I am behind (my days off are Monday and Tuesday so I try to get a lot done on these days but I had Drs. appointments.  Yikes!  I am behind!!!) I really would have loved to hear more and see more of Bert Monroy.  That was fantastically interesting and educational. Those two things don't always go together. I still use Photoshop Elements because the software has such a long learning curve. It was heartening to hear him talk about how he just figured out out to use this stuff. You have to admire these artists. Really loved this video. Very inspirational, although I can't imagine me doing anything like he does. Okay, this is a really intense week. I am wondering - as I work my way through all the tutorials - if this exercise is not too advanced for me. I feel like I am having to master a lot of material in a very short amount of time. Yikes. I wish the Pinterest assignment came earlier...I tend to watch these in
Week of October 4, 2021 Digital Darkroom This weeks plethora of explanations and explorations were fun. I am pretty familiar with Lightroom, but I use Lightroom 6, not Lightroom CC. There are some differences. The question is: are the differences worth the cost. This is a question I have been asking. This class (and I am taking the upcoming Digital Darkroom class) will, I hope, help me answer that question. The Creative Suite is pretty pricy....Also, learning this software is really challenging on your own. Most of the online help videos (of which there are a bunch) are dated and use the interfaces for previous versions. Challenging. That said, I found the explanations of some of the more obscure (or less intuitive) controls super helpful. The radial and horizontal gradient adjustments, for one. Nice to understand how these work, although it took me quite a while to figure these out. Some of the things she said in her tutorial weren't true in the version I have. Oh well. Adds to th
Week of September 27. 2021 Fun review of the various types of photography. I am always amazed at the wonderful photos that are available to view. The digital age certainly has its advantages. Like the printing press, it makes so much available to see. (Too bad people spend so much time on junk when there is so much beauty to see...) As I mentioned in my Photo examples assignment, I like many of these categories already. I am inspired to do something more with still life, but I am really turned off by product photography: I don't need anyone to sell me anything else.  This was a very dense week. It took me a while to get through all the videos.  Charles Csuri This work was interesting. Again, cool to see the evolution of animation in this way.  The work of Nancy Burson was fascinating. Took me a while to get through this, as the narrator put me to sleep. I remember the milk cartons. Had no idea where those aging photos came from. Very cool to know.  The Technocultures Symposium was
